Life at Waseley and FAQ
Hear about life at Waseley Hills from two of current Year 7 students.
Zane -
“Hello, my name is Zane. I’ve been through many struggles in life, but by far the scariest one was the transition from year 6 to year 7. I was scared because no one from my old school was coming to Waseley and I thought I wouldn’t fit in. It turned out to be quite the contrary.
What could I possibly start with? The school’s staff are very supportive and made me feel proud of not only myself, but others and overall are very kind. Waseley Hills’ facilities are amazing! They are of such high quality. More importantly however, everyone gets a go and it always feels fun. Other members of this school here are taught to be amazing academically, but also kind, thoughtful people. Food here is so thought out as well! I’ve never felt a single time that the food is bad and Waseley makes lunches with so much effort so I can enjoy lunch every day; the lunch ladies are always so kind and I feel so proud I have them as our lunch ladies in Waseley hills! But by far one of the most outstanding things Waseley does is congratulating me and many others for our achievements. No matter what it is from a shout-out to a celebration, I feel like I have done outstanding and that is all because of Waseley. Finally, I would like to talk about their first aid team and student welfare officers.
It’s just so fantastic to have the first aid team here at Waseley! Members of the first aid team have helped me several times and take so much effort into their jobs. And student welfare officers do just as amazing! Every single member of the student welfare team are just so kind and take so much effort to help us with whatever we need. They help several others with their kindness and efforts towards their jobs. It is just so amazing how Waseley had managed to change me from a shy person to someone who is confident, strong academically and more importantly, feels like they fit in.”
Emily -
"My name is Emily, and I’ve recently started Year 7 at Waseley. Although the move from primary school felt a little daunting at first, I’ve found the transition surprisingly smooth. I’ve already made a wonderful group of new friends, which has made exploring new subjects like Spanish and Learning for Life even more exciting. In Spanish, I’m already learning how to introduce my family, and in Learning for Life we’ve been discussing how to stay healthy and confident. Currently I’m enjoying the balance of my schoolwork; it’s manageable but provides just enough of a challenge to keep me motivated. Also, the teachers in the school are supportive and trust me, if you ever need any help you could go to any adult such as the welfare officers in the hub, first aid, form tutors and many more.
What makes Waseley truly amazing are the endless opportunities available; I am so excited for the upcoming school trips, drama productions (Oliver Jr), ski trips, house awards, Halloween parties, Christmas parties, bake sales (we recently raised more than £120 for Children in Need as a year group) subject awards and all the new topics I have yet to discover. It is such an amazing school and I couldn’t be happier with the education I am getting and to know one day I could go on to be a scientist or other amazing jobs.”
