Year 6 SEND Transition

These past few months have been really exciting where our SEND team have been visiting primary schools, meeting our new SEND and vulnerable students to identify their barriers and prepare strategies of support for September. All the data from primary, parents/carers, specialist reports and from observation were shared with our SEND team, Pastoral, Student Welfare Officer team, teaching staff to plan their Wave 1 High Quality Teaching strategies for our 2 transitional days and follow through to our AC1 curriculum in the Autumn term.

We have had so much positive feedback from primary schools and parents/carers who appreciate the experience their child had shared with them. Please see feedback from some parents and students: "My child was so nervous on the first day, but on the second day he wanted to come without me telling him", "After meeting the SEND teachers, I feel assured my grandson will settle here", "The bistro staff were so kind and my helper helped me with the queue", "the teacher already knew my name and knows I need help", "the communication is amazing, any hiccups we had were resolved on the same day"

We look forward to meeting our students back in September 26, where we will continue with our parent network to have coffee mornings and also run our parent/engagement workshops.
